Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about getting tattooed at Bloom. If you don't find your answer here, we're always happy to help.

First Tattoo Questions

Q

I'm really nervous about getting my first tattoo. Can you help?

Absolutely—we specialize in first-time clients! About 40% of our clients are getting their first tattoo, so you're in excellent company. We'll walk you through every step of the process, answer all your questions, explain exactly what to expect, and make sure you feel completely comfortable before we start.

Q

Does it hurt?

Honest answer: yes, but usually less than expected. Fine line work tends to be gentler than heavy shading. Pain levels vary by person and placement. We work at a comfortable pace, take breaks as needed, and create the most comfortable environment possible.

Q

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Get a good night's sleep, eat a full meal 1-2 hours before, stay hydrated (no alcohol for 24 hours), and wear comfortable, loose clothing. Bring snacks and entertainment for longer sessions.

Design & Booking

Q

Do I need to bring a design, or can you create something for me?

Both work! Some clients come with specific reference images and ideas, others come with just a concept or feeling they want to capture. During your consultation, your artist will discuss your vision and create a custom design specifically for you.

Q

How do I book an appointment?

Contact us via phone, email, Instagram DM, or our booking form. We'll schedule a brief consultation (phone or in-person) to discuss your idea and timeline. Once we're aligned on the vision, we'll book your appointment and collect a $75 deposit.

Q

How far in advance are you booked?

Typically 4-8 weeks for custom work, depending on artist. If you're flexible on timing or artist, we can sometimes accommodate sooner. Flash designs can often be done within 1-2 weeks.

Q

Do you do walk-ins?

We're appointment-only to ensure every client gets unhurried, quality time. However, if you call ahead same-day and we have availability, we can sometimes squeeze in small flash pieces.

Pricing & Payment

Q

How much will my tattoo cost?

Cost depends on size, complexity, and time required. Minimum is $100 for small, simple pieces. Small to medium tattoos (like a 3-inch botanical design) are $150-300. Larger or more detailed pieces are $150-180/hour depending on artist.

Q

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, we require a $75 non-refundable deposit to book appointments. The deposit is applied to your final session cost. If you need to reschedule with at least 72 hours notice, we'll happily move your deposit to a new date.

Q

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Credit/Debit Cards, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Cash. Payment is due at the end of your session.

Policies

Q

How old do I need to be?

You must be 18 or older with valid government-issued photo ID. We do not tattoo minors, even with parental consent. This is Oregon state law.

Q

What's your cancellation policy?

We kindly request 72 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. With 72+ hours notice, we'll move your deposit to a new date. Less than 72 hours or no-show means the deposit is forfeited. We understand life happens—just communicate as soon as possible.

Q

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes! You're welcome to bring one support person. We have comfortable seating and they're welcome to stay for the entire session.

Q

Do you offer touch-ups?

Yes! We offer free touch-ups within the first year if you followed our aftercare instructions. After that, touch-ups are charged at a reduced rate.
